In Newcastle you can never be short of something to do. Even if it is a gentle walk or serious climb which you are after, the Mourne Mountains are ideal. The almost endless combination of walks include some which will take you to the highest point in Northern Ireland - the Slieve Donard mountain.
From there you can see most of the southwest coast of Scotland, Cumbria and the Isle of Man. At night you can even see the lights of Dublin some 70 miles away.
